The European Medicines Agency is questioning the makers of the diabetes medication Avandia, GlaxoSmithKline, in order to make a final decision whether the medicine should stay on the market or not.
The final verdict on the issue will be made by the end of the month and pressure for the EMA to pull the drug has increased after the drug has been linked to increased risk of health complications such as heart disease.
Avandia used to be the second highest selling drug for the company until claims of health issues were associated with it and the sales plummeted causing many doctors to switch to its rival drug.
In the U.S. some feel that the drug should stay on the market with advanced warnings on the label and a decision is also expected to be made by the FDA shortly.
If you or a loved one has suffered serious health issues after taking Avandia, you may able to be compensated for your pain. Contact the Avandia side effects lawsuit lawyers of the firm by calling the firm.
